Who are we?
Medovent is the first company to overcome the technological hurdles of processing chitin and chitosan based biopolymers. We aim to become a leading specialist for chitin and chitosan processing technologies to manufacture medical devices of complex designs with highest quality, reliability and performance.
Medovent develops and manufactures its chitosan based sutures, woundcare products and medical implants according to EN ISO 13485:2003 standards.
Our proprietary technology not only preserves the superior intrinsic bioactive properties of chitin and chitosan but also allows to manufacture products with similar mechanical properties and optical appearance as seen with many synthetic biodegradable polymers.
Thus we believe that chitin and chitosan based biopolymers have the potential to replace many known biodegradable synthetic polymers like PLA and PGA and their co-polymers in a variety of applications.
Medovent GmbH based in Mainz, Germany, was founded in 2006 and is privately owned.
