Dr. Thomas Freier (CEO)
Dr. Freier is CEO and Co-founder of Medovent. He looks back to many years of applied research at the Centre of Excellence for Biomaterials at Rostock, Germany, where he focussed his work on biodegradable implants for gastrointestinal, cranio-facial, cardiovascular and urological tissue repair. At the University of Toronto, Canada, he designed biomaterials and devices for nerve injury repair. Until his appointment as CEO at Medovent he served as R&D Director and CSO of Canadian medical device companies where he developed medical systems for controlled drug release and for the prevention and treatment of stroke.
Dr. Freier holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Rostock, Germany.
Dr. Rivelino Montenegro (CTO)
Dr. Montenegro is CTO and Co-founder of Medovent. He has held lead engineering positions in the Brazilian polymer and metal processing industry and served previously as COO of medical device start-up companies in Canada. During these years, Dr. Montenegro undertook leadership roles in several research and development projects, and was responsible for financial, marketing and licensing strategies.
Dr. Montenegro holds a PhD in physical chemistry from the Max-Planck Institute of Colloids and Interface Research in Golm, Germany.
Dr. Christina Barwig (QM/QA)
Dr. Barwig joined Medovent as Senior Scientist in 2008. She is responsible for R&D projects including the development and implementation of immunological studies, cell culture and molecular genetic techniques. Her academic background is in immunology and allergology on therapy and tolerance induction. Since 2008, Dr. Barwig has been undertaking professional training in quality management. She currently leads Medovent's QM and QA activities.
Dr. Barwig holds a PhD in biology from the Johannes-Gutenberg-University of Mainz, Germany.
